Saleem Safi: Confessions of an ex-Jihadi: Afghan Jihad, Taliban, ISI and Our Hypocrisy

A must read article by Saleem Safi exposing the hypocritical and misleading notions of jihad and Islam concocted and used by the ISI, the so called Afghan Jihadis, Taliban and their supporters in Pakistan.

The article exposes the un-Islamic and opportunistic character of Hameed Gul, Sami-ul-Haq, Fazlur-Rehman, Qazi Hussain Ahmed, Zia-ul-Haq and other pro-jihadi elements in Pakistan.

MNA Razia Aziz was the wife of a former amir of Jamaat Islami of Balochistan and was the sister-in-law of Raheel Qazi, the daughter of the Jamaat chief. MNA Dr Farida Ahmad was from the JUP and is the sister of Late Shah Ahmad Noorani, the leader of JUP. MNA Kaneez Ayesha Munawwar was the wife of the secretary general of Jamaat Islami, Mr Munawwar Hassan who lost his seat to an MQM member in Karachi and then got his wife inducted. MNA Syeda Farhana Khalid was the granddaughter of Maulana Yusuf Banuri, the founder of the Banuri Masjid in Karachi, and was the daughter of a senior JUI leader. MNA Nayyar Sultana was the wife of Saiful Islam who was a brother-in-law of Maulana Fazlur Rehman of JUI. MNA Shahida Begum was the sister of Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s wife. MNA Ambreen Enayat was also the wife of a very close associate of Maulana Fazlur Rehman. MNA Raheel Qazi is the daughter of the Jamaat chief, Qazi Hussain Ahmad.
