A discussion: Why Imran Khan Has Failed To Lead The Nation ??

hina123

Today Pakistan is going through the most fragile time of its history. The people of Pakistan are desperately looking for a honest leader to lead them into the future. People of Pakistan have lost faith in these two face leaders like Zardari, Nawaz Shareef, Qazi Hussain, Asfandyar, Maulana Fazlurehman and the kalla gaboon Altaf Hussain. We have also seen the military's failed performance both on war front and political front. These dictators to whom we have praised over time have used this nation to fill their own bank accounts.

When Imran Khan came into politics, some people thought it was the last chance of hope, however after more than 12 years, IK has still not proved his leadership potential and the nation who is waiting for a leader is still in wait..

" THE QUESTION OF THE HOUR IS WHY IK HAS FAILED TO CONVINCE THE NATION "

* is it cz he called nawaz and benazir both thieves in the beginning of his political career and later moved towards nawaz...

* on one side he and his X wife wrote hardliner Islamic columns in Pakistani newspapers but at the same time were busy spending the most liberal life in a conservative country like Pakistan....

* is it cz he failed to groom any other visible personality in his party like a great leader and even after 12 years, he is a 1 man show...

* is it cz on one side he tries to ally with the moderates through his personality and then sits with the hardliner conservatives like Qazi Hussain...

* is it cz he sided with Musharaff in the beginning when the whole nation knew that the fairist dictator is worst than the evil democracy....

* is it cz he tries to convince people by being a opportunist and uses his rhetoric to attack by words and not actions....

* is it cz the nation has not forgot about his playboy past and is not willing to accept his new image...after all Pakistan is a conservative society....

* is it cz also like a Pakistani politician he has learned not to let any other person ahead of him in his party...

* during the last two years, he had a chance to promote his party heavily through free news/talk shows appearances but again and again we saw ONLY him on TV screens......

* he bravely talks about Baluchistan and FATA and NWFP but has also failed to visit these areas to prove his actions more than words....

** most importantly, People were expecting him to take part in the "in camera security briefing" BUT apparently he has took off like he always does when there is some serious issue back home........ so that later he can use his rhetoric....

Re: Why Imran Khan Has Failed To Lead The Nation ??

It could be said that he is not successful to convince the people of Pakistan but it would not be fair to say that he has failed.

He is trying consistently and has now emerged as one of the leading political voices of our land.

Actually, we, people should support him whole heartedly and knowing that he is a fair politician we trust in those who are well-rated in corruption.
He is a fighter and he has his own style that's why it seems he is not as successful as the others are. One day he will be on driving seat to lead the nation towards prosperity and dignity.
Muhammad Ali Jinnah had been disappointed in his early period of politics but later the people realized that he is a fair and dedicated person and they gave him full support.

If we want change then we should also take a step forward. Imran is not a failed politician rather he is improving steadily.

Re: Why Imran Khan Has Failed To Lead The Nation ??

Salam,

Its a great topic to be discussed.

Imran Khan started his political career at the height of PPP's alleged corruption era of 1996 when the whole national saw him as a great saviour. And no doubt much of Pakistani youth wants to see him in power. I believe that so far he has been failed to deliver what he seems to promise. To me the reasons are following:

His conviction doesn't seem to be originally his own brainchild and he is seen continuously sitting in the company of same old CLASSICAL FAUJ-MULLA alliance namely Qazi Hussain Ahmed and most notoriously Gen (R) HAMEED GUL (a dubious character....an Ex head of a notorious intelligence agency responsible for sectarian voilence, gun culture, and a leading protagonist of voilent Islamic Ideas as practiced by Taliban....and also well known for his financial corruption as well as in destabilizing the democratic governments in 90's).

And if he has an original conviction to change Pakistani society, he should come out of this quagmire of old used up politicians like Qazi and HGul. That will be surely the onset of his political success.

IK should have the knowledge and regard that Pakistani youth loves him and wants to see him in power. He should go directly to public and talk to them and convince about his reform's offer, and really prepare them for a big change. For last 6 minths he kept on crying that govt is not taking parliment into confidence about security situation and at the height of this troublesome time he is in Australia attending some PTI conventions and regretted to attend this very important meeting.

He talks straightfarward and with good rhetoric, but goes to the talk without full homework and therefore ends up using the power of his voice and finally stressing up. Most of the times he is only relying upon various world political surveys without knowing their on ground relationship with the current situation. Or sometimes he is presenting Switzerland model for his envisaged Pakistan which looks too impractical on ground.

He lost a great opportunity in 2008 elections which could prove to be the onset of his political success, and I'm sure he was not following his own vision, rather following somebody's advice (like HGul).

Regarding his mindset, without any prejudice to him, besides him becomming a winnimg captain of WC 1992, who doesn't know of his arrogant (DICTATORIAL) attitude in cricket; a time when he never wanted any cricketer to get more fame than himself, for example stopping Miandad (the backbone of 1992 success) from a great 300 with just 16 runs away in 1986-87 against India.

So in summary......

So far, his political struggle consists of ONLY Rhetoric in 11 years, even having found good opportunities to come to power.

I would very much wish to see him in power ONLY IF

1. He follows his own conviction and Ideas.

2. Reject advices of Dark Characters like Hameed Gul etc right away and form an executive comittee of PTI of purely 100% of his own confidence. It should consist of only and only new and well educated people mostly belonging to the middle class with completely clean past.

3. Stop the luxuries of life for some time, and spend his days and nights with the people of Pakistan talking to them and listening to them, just as Bhutto did from 1967 to 1970.

4. Prepare himeself very well before talk shows so that he doesn't need to use the power of his voice, rather the power of his ideas and conviction in a low voice.

5. Try to be a bit humble than he now is.

Only then, I wish him all the success.........

Sorry for any disagreements...........

Regards and wassalam.....

My biggest problem with the PTI is exactly what you said–lack of internal party democracy and the fact that if something were to happen to IK, the party would completely disintegrate.

In that sense, I think PTI (even more than some of the other parties) is run like a fan club around a personality rather than a political party with intelligent people voicing and debating positions and then developing consensus.

Mechanics aside, yes it was baluchistan’s turn, but that is irrelevant. The lawyers’ movement is inspirational because it has at least five good leaders. Aitzaz, Munir, Kurd, Hamid, Tariq Mahmood, to name the most relevant–they all have equal stake and equal relevance and equal chance to contribute.

Unfortunately, we cannot say that for any of our political parties, including the PTI. For that reason, I do not view the PTI as a vehicle for change.

PTI fans only get angry when one says this but have no logic to back up their positions.

And just two more points–since I go on the websites of political parties often–about three years ago, I logged on to the PTI website–and clicked on PTI’s women’s wing–guess who was the head of the women’s wing? Jemima Khan. It was entirely disappointing. Why is that different from making Bilawal the head of the party? And ironically, this was 1.5 years after Imran’s divorce. That means even in the year and a half after she had left Pakistan, the party and Imran, they could not bother to make some non-family intelligent woman the head of their women’s wing.

Second, I think if you talk to the lawyers, they are by and large very pro Aitzaz and would in large numbers vote for him if he was a contestant in their constituency. But if you ask the cricketers, as I have had the opportunity to, hardly any of them want to vote for Imran. This says something about what people who have worked with him think of him. While people who have worked with Aitzaz, find him democratic. Those who have worked with Imran, find him dictatorial.

Instead of recruiting good people, he has alienated them. Why did Nasim Zehra leave PTI after having been a part of it at its inception?

These are important questions but PTI supporters want to turn a blind eye and not think through their support.

First of all Imran Khan's personality is cosmetic and not real. He certainly has a charm and does look attractive. But this is not required in politics.Politics requires total devotion, honesty, total freedom from racial and ethnic bias and a total commitment to improve the lot of a country's oppressed people. Believe me. Altaf Hussain all these qualities. Somebody called Hina123 has rudely commented about him referring to him as 'kalla gaboon'. This is shockingly ignorant and uncivilised as the commentator herself.Altaf Hussain fought to save a beleagured community who was bullied, oppressed and ruthlessly massacred by a ruling political party itself backed by equally ruthless and brutal military officials. He certainly responded to violence with violence. He taught self respect and dignity to the oppressed teaching them to fight back at their oppressors. He was merely folllowing the sayings of thre Quran. 'Fight against your oppressors whereever they may be;whoever they may be' says the Quran.AH did just that. He is a true believer in Islam. Imran Khan ?hmmm...lets think. His personal life does not suggest so.Altaf Hussain's fight is with the greedy landlords or waderas who control 89% of Pakistan's wealth depriving the poor peasant and ordinary working pakistani from a life of normal existence.AH is a humanist but ready to defend himself when attacked.Imran khan is no match to his rhetoric which is sincere and comes from his heart.Altaf hussain's politics is straightforward and is aimed at the ordinary people of pakistan. It is above petty politics of ethnicity colour race etc. Human rights is his main issue. This is why the rich hate him. They do not want equality in Pakistan.Imran khan does not realise that his own community the pashtuns have been exploited by every leading politician till now.Altaf hussain wishes to reach out to every member of the ethnic community of pakistan. He merely wants pakistan for pakistanis. He has been downright honest in his approach and appears sincere. This is why Imran khan is no match to him. Politics is not a game of cricket.
So let's look through a person and not at him.Lastly AH is islamic while people who criticise him are not.Because if they believed truly in Islam they wouldnt be saying the bad things they say about him.

The discussion regarding why IK failed is at interesting stage. the reasons given by the "initiator" seem very harsh and personal.
In fact most of us...... only blame others to be the main cause of all problems and never ever think about the role ourselves in the development of that issue.

What happens in the USA..... is the small example of early days of Islam .... when Bilal Habshi was give full respect , irrespective of his color, race, social status etc...............

This was done again and again in the islamic history and anyone , can easily find to the highest portfolio... without any obstacle ........ that was the system which facilitate them to advance ... in such a way..

The same system has been adopted by the other countries... but what countries like pakistan ... are doing is opposite of above...

Imran Khan or any one in the country ..... will fail ... again and again...... because.... our system bloks such people.... people who want to bring change...... ......
We are a nation where .... one brother is in the PPP..... 2nd is in the PMLN..... 3rd is in the JUI.... and the close relative are in the forces and civil services...... so this is complete shell like .....protection every where.....
Imran has still to wait for a..... long ... long time..... when our country men will ..... wake up..... and find out or import some good charachters ..... convince them to join politics... and then.... support and vote such people.....

till then..... enjoy... the ... monetory benefits of the loan provided by the IMF.....

enjoy daily....drone flights.... and attacks in the pakistan.... and the statement....

" this is our war...."

Any one who doesn't understand the true nature of pakistan's politics being practiced is likely to come up with such topic. And the other problem lying with the topic is,the writer many times intentionaly or unintentionaly resorted on 'lies' to support his view point.
Following are lies mentioned in the topic
1-When did Imran regret about his decision to bycot the election?Imran has never regreted about his decision to bycot the election held in 2008.Recently,he appeared in a programme ''Kiran and George' at Aaj TV and he said that history would tell that his decision of bycotting the election was right. Now almost everyone has realised that this election gave Musharaf ligitimacy to some extent.
2-The writer wrote down that Imran doesn't act just talks.I am failed to understand why he/she has come up with such rubbish as Imran is the only one among Politicians who has done many projects especialy for poor masses ;Shaukat Khanum ,Sasta tandoor, namal College and his frequent visits to all those places where one sees cruelty and injustice.
This all clearly tells that he has taken lots of actions even without being in power.
3-The writer is of the opinion that there is no one notable in his party.Let me ask the writer what he/she thinks of Haroon Rashid,Shirin mazari, hamid Khan, and Khishwar Naheed. The proble with the writer is he/she was not well versed with the party and what has been happening in the party.
3-Imran Khan is the only major politicians who has visited FATA and war stricken areas of NWFP.Some months back, when a popular philanthropist, kamran Khan of FATA, got injured due to a drone attack by USA forces ,Imran paid visit to the area and asked about the health of the people injured and showed condolence with the faimly of those who died.
So again the writer tried to resort on a white lie to support his point.Has the writer himself ever visisted these areas? The answer is clearly a big NO!!!!.Considering the fact that Imran has got a busy schedule he can not be at every place all the times.he recently went to Balochistan when Earthquake struck the province.
Now it should be clear that writer was resorting on 'white lies 'to support his points.

Now let's come to another problem with the writer; The writer doesn't know the election system of Pakistan and how much it is difficult to get success in Pakistan's politics for good persons.
In pakistan, majority of the educated people cum elites don't like voting for some reason. In cities like Islamabad and Lahore ,less than 20 percent people vote in the election. As far as rural areas are concerened, majority of the people do vote but with the mentality writer doesn't understand.
In my Constituency(Chakwal),maliks give their votes to some malik,Chaudhary give their votes to some chaudhary,so is the case with all the rural ares in pakistan. There is no merit based voting in pakistan.
In 2008 election, our defence Mininster Ch Mukhtar(Gujrat) asked all the employees of the company(Service shoes) he owns to vote for PPP otherwise they would lose their job, what does it show?It cleary shows that our middle or poor class is forced by the elites to vote the party of their choice. In short a large part of the society doesn't have the freedom to vote to the person or party they want to.
Less than 5 percent people vote keeping merit in mind. The problem lies with the system and don't forget rigging in the elction. In karachi, people are forced to vote by the poltical groups with the use of weapons ,a lot of videos can be seen on internet about such incidents.
For a gentle man like Imran, getting successs in such an ineffective system is very difficult and that's why he took a lot of time to make a mark in politics.
It is a fact that great persons take great amount of time to get success; It took 50 years for our Quaid to get pakistan for us and nelson mandela took 40 years to get success. As far as Imran is concerned .he is taking time and it's nice because he is improving with the passage of time.
Inshah Allah he would get success when ever God enables him for this.He just needs our support in this noble cause.

This is in response with sitaraakhri....

Every decsion which has been made by PTI recently was discussed by the centeral executive commitee of the party. For example, bycotting 2008 election was debated and finaly decision was taken on consensus.recent government failur to do anything for pakistan and no accountability for Musharaf clearly shows that PTI's decision about 2008 election is proving to be right.
You somehwere wrote that some crickters don't want to support Imran.Well,PTI should never look for their support as unfortunately except Imran none of the former palyers has shown respect to the country and taken part in any activity which could benefit pakistan and its poor poor, are you following their own life?Imran doesn't need the support of any controversial personality and he should be thankful of God that such persons are not with him.The problem is,you are looking for short term gains. And seconly, none of the crickters has got voters,so what's the use of them?.According to Intikhab Alam, who was coach and manager of pak team in 1992 world cup,Imran listened me everytime and whenever I made sense to him he followed my advice.Hence this shows that what kind of person Imran was.
You wrote down PTI is a fan club, you are mistaken.there is saying in Urdu "Jo shaks mele ka woh rukh dekhta hai jo us ki janab hai woh haqeqat se na waqaf hai".Yes,it right that party needs improvement but it has got alot to do with the kind of society we are,do we have anything oragnized in the society???.

As far as nasim Zahra is concerned, she is all praise for Imran. She always invited Imran in all of her programmes once and gave him oppurtunities to preach his message.
