Dirty propaganda against Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif in Ocotber 1999 was spread by ISI and the supporters of Taliban and Sipah-e-Sahaba

In his op-ed today, Ata-ul-Haq Qasimi stresses the need to remember 5 July 1977 in the same spirit that PML(N) would like to remember 12 October 1999. Qasimi also notes that the agents of ISI and Taliban spread dirty propaganda against Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif after the Musharraf coup in October 19999, while their accomplices in media helped them promote the dirty propaganda.

NS is a shrewd politcian and a popular leader no doubt, but to paint him as the saviour of democracy, a paladin of principled politics and a heroic champion is not in line with reality and his past record.

Who was his mentor in politics?

Who brought him into political limelight back in 1985?

On whose behest did he manhandled the incumbent PML President, Muhammad Khan Junejo and had him bundled into a car by goons and whisked away from Muslim League House back in 1988? ( chaudhries did the same to him in 2000)

Why did he play a despicable role in de-stabilizing a democratically elected Government in 1988?

Why did he cut a deal with Farooq Leghari and Sajjad Ali Shah to torpedo BB’s govt. in 1996? The way he disposed off his partners in crime in 1997 is part of history as well.

Nawaz Sharif has rendered valuable services to Pakistan as well, including the conclusion of 1991 IRSA water accord among porvinces, building up of motorways and Ghazi Barotha power projects, galvanizing the Gawadar project, rejuvenating the industrial sector, over seeing the detonation of atomic bombs and last but not the least sloganeering for the cause of the CJ and his fellow deposed Jugdes in 2008.

But his past is far from being crisp and clean, and he has been hobnobing with military men, shady beaurucrats, vested mafias and the notorious establishment to catapult himself into power, sacrifing his princples and integrity at every stage.

Why has Nawaz Sharif gone quiet on the Jugdes issue?
